Thomas "Tommy" Harold Farthing

Thomas “Tommy” Harold Farthing, age 69, of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Thursday October 19, 2023.

Thomas was born on October 7, 1954 in Boone, North Carolina to the late Harold Gray and Martha Baird Farthing.

Tommy was enrolled in the U.S. Air Force on February 15, 1973. He went into active service with the 380th Supply Squadron on June 18, 1973 as an airman with the 380th Bomb Wing, Strategic Air Command. His military occupational specialty was Inventory Management Specialist 380th Bomb Wing Honor Guard Firing Squad. Tommy participated in numerous operational ready inspections. He held the title of Sargent until his discharge on June 17, 1977.

He is survived by his wife Ann Mabe Farthing of Woodlawn, Virginia; daughter Sarah Jean Farthing of Woodlawn, Virginia; sister Sharon Harbin of Vilas, North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law Diane and Terry Beach of Boone, North Carolina; nieces Renee Gibson, Stephanie Beach, and Meredith Speight; grand dogs Bear and Sophie.

The funeral service will be held Monday October 23, 2023 at 3:00PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Ron Fredricks, Theron Phillips, and Pastor Angie Lineberry officiating with burial to follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery where military rites will be granted by Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
