Thomas Carl Shouse, affectionately known as “Tommy,” age 78 of Blowing Rock, NC, went to be with God on July 2nd, 2026. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, after a lengthy illness that he fought hard and bravely. He was a Vietnam Veteran who fought for his country. He was a loving husband and a caring friend. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Blowing Rock, NC, for 20 years before retiring. He made many friends there and was well known among the town’s residents. In retirement, he volunteered regularly at area skilled nursing facilities for 8 years. He cared for the residents greatly and would go above and beyond to help any one of them. He grew up playing golf at municipal courses in Charlotte and loved the game. After moving to Watauga County in the 1970’s, he joined the Boone Golf Club where he stayed a member through the years. He met many people and made many friends through golfing.Tommy was born in Charlotte, NC in 1948 to Thomas Carl Shouse Sr., and Frances Legette Shouse who proceeded him in death, as did his his granddaughter, Courtney. He is survived by his wife and companion of 48 years, Karen Taylor Shouse, his daughters Amy Earnheart and Jodi McCurdy, Sister Ellen Weiant (Husband: Chris), his nephew Taylor (wife: Erica), his grandchildren Laela, Christopher, Jordan, great granddaughter Catalina, and his very best friend of many years Bob Werth.
A private family get together will happen at a later date.
