Thomas David Erwin, age 71 of Boone, the Meat Camp Community, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024. Known by most as “Tom” or “Tommy,” he escaped the bonds and trials of Earth into the arms of Jesus. Although he traveled around the world and across this nation, Tom settled here in Meat Camp, where he was loved and admired.
Tom loved fishing, heading to Todd Island, aka Slab, North Carolina, as often as he could. His wonderful companion and furbaby, “Baby Girl,” was always at his side, even at the time of his passing.
Tom is survived by sisters Christina Pitts, Tammy Miller, and Gail Fussell Lee. Chris, Tammy and Gail are not his biological sisters, but they were family in every sense of the word. Tom is also survived by close friends Brazilla Norris, Melinda Greene, Evelyn Greene, Bob Greene, Savannah Norris, Danny and Melody Woodring. He considered all these like his grandkids: Jaydon, Byerly, Raylan, Tulsa, Rhett, Sutton Norris, and George, Becky, and Michael. He considered Jack Chapman his brother. He loved all the Meat Camp Community.
He spent a lot of time sitting on the bench at Plan B store helping the Plan B girls when they needed it and he always had a story to tell.
If Tom were here, he would show appreciation to Chris and all those who cared for him. He loved every one of you.
A private memorial will be planned at a later date.
