Selina Rhea (Cloud) Phillips

Selina Rhea Phillips passed away on July 9, 2026.

Selina was born in Bristol, Tennessee, on August 16, 1974, to Kenneth Cloud and Celia Johnson. From a young age, she had a compassionate heart and loved helping others and caring for animals.

Her passion for helping others led her to a career in nursing. While living in Tennessee, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After moving to Boone, North Carolina, she continued serving others through her work in hospitality and retail. Selina especially enjoyed her time as a baker at the Daniel Boone Inn, where she cared for both her coworkers and customers. One of her favorite memories was spending two years working alongside her son, Ozzy. It was also in Boone that she met her husband, Boyd. Most recently, they moved to Lenoir after purchasing their first home, creating a place for their family to call home together. 

Selina loved spending time outdoors and found joy in hiking and camping. She loved all animals, although she and snakes had a lifelong agreement to stay out of each other's way. Selina treasured every moment spent with her family, close friends, and coworkers. She was the glue that held her family together, always offering love, support, and kindness to those around her. Her warmth and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Selina is survived by her husband, Boyd Phillips; her sons, Devan Odom, Ozzy Phillips, and Evin Phillips; her sister, Nina Hicks (Bobby); her nephews, Dustin, Chad, and Mason; her sister-in-law, Elaine (Paul) Figlia, and nephew Dominic; her brother-in-law, Travis (Cindy) Phillips; her sister-in-law, Trish (Rick) Yale; her best friend, Donna Skillman; her family friend, Ray Odom; her brother, Nicky Begley; her sister, Sonya Johnson; her brothers-in-law, Johnny Reese; and Evin Phillips.

Selina was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Zane Phillips; her in-laws, Kathy and Gene Reese; her nephew, Beau Hicks; her in-laws, William "Billy" Reese, Bekah Adams, and Ronnie Reese.

Services for Selina will be held on Thursday July 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock,  prior to services. Reverend Mike Townsend will be officiating 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with funeral, medical and related expenses.
