Ruth Ann Rash

Ruth Ann Graybeal Rash of Buffalo community in West Jefferson passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday morning October 18, 2023. Born Dec 26, 1936 in West Jefferson,  Ruth Ann spent a career at Hanes Mill factory for 38 years where she was remembered as a kind, caring and dedicated employee. After retiring, Ruth Ann made and managed the wreath operations for the family Christmas Tree business. Thousands of families far and wide have enjoyed her beautiful handmade wreaths.  Ruth Ann was also a devoted member of Buffalo Baptist Church. She volunteered for community activities, visiting the sick and feeding those in need for the entire Buffalo area.  Her interests and hobbies included canning beautiful vegetables from her garden and nurturing many varieties of flowers both of which she shared widely with friends and family.  Her kraut and green beans were enjoyed by family and community members for many years along with other tasty vegetables some of which she shipped across the country to family.  She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Elizabeth Graybeal of Buffalo, her husband John Ila Rash of the home, her three sisters, Helen Stanley of Havre de Grace Maryland, Betty Graybeal of Bel Air Maryland, and Margaret Ashby of Greensboro, NC.  She is survived by her two sons:  Ronald Dean Rash of Winston Salem and John Edward Rash (Darby) of West Jefferson. One grandson, John Tyler Rash (Micala) of Warrensville, NC and two special great grandsons Atticus Ford  Rash and Abel James Rash.  Also surviving are a large number of special nieces and nephews and her loyal dog Romney who has stayed steadfast by her side until the end. The family respectfully requests no food or flowers but In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medi Home Hospice, 400 Shadowline Drive, Unit 101 Boone, NC 28607  or  a charity of the donors choice. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
