Robert Edmisten Obituary

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Robert Ted Edmisten went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2025 at the age of 86.  Ted was born September 12, 1938 in Watauga County to George Abner and Virginia Dare Farthing Edmisten.  He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.  Ted was a residential electrician and was employed by Dewey Wright Well Company as a pump installer.

He loved listening to blue grass music, talking on his ham radio, and sharing and listening to a good joke.  Even during his illness, Ted always had a smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Berry Edmisten; two sons, Bruce Edmisten (Jennifer) of Zionville and Barry Edmisten (Barbara) of Lenoir; daughter, Jill Moretz (Roy) of Zionville; granddaughter, Katie Robertson (James) and grandson, Paul Edmisten; sister, Peggy Sherwood (John) and niece, Tina Rayfield (Mark) and their son, Lucas.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Lou Cable (Dwight) and two brothers, Clyde Edmisten (Mattie) and Claude Edmisten (Maxie).

Funeral services for Robert Ted Edmisten will be conducted Thursday morning, January 9, 2025, at 11’clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Daniel Lawrence. Graveside services will follow at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to MediHome Hospice for all their help and support and a special ‘Thank You’ to Dad’s Physical Therapists, Kevin for his kindness and compassion shown to Ted during his illness.

IN lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, in care of Bennie Trivette, 211 Honey Dew Lane, Banner Elk, NC 28604.
