Marsha Greene, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026.
Born on January 20, 1956, to Charles and Betty Cowan, Marsha grew up with a big heart and a special place in it for family. As she grew older, that natural care for others blossomed into a warmth and kindness that her family and friends came to know and cherish.
Marsha was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in raising her children alongside her husband of 50 years, Clyde “C.E.” Greene. Together, Marsha and C.E. opened their hearts and their home to more than 50 foster children over the years, providing each child with love, care, and a place to feel safe and welcomed. Caring for others was not simply something Marsha did, it was a reflection of the generous heart she carried throughout her life. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her countless moments of happiness and pride.
When she wasn’t surrounded by her family, Marsha could often be found taking in the Word and enjoying fellowship at Razor Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Virginia, where she was a longtime member. Her faith and love for others were important parts of who she was.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Cowan and Betty Burkett.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Clyde “C.E.” Greene; her children, Alana Williams, Alicia (Todd) Phillips, Akesha (Josh) McMillan, and Anna Greene; her grandchildren, Josiah Williams, Hayden Williams, Kallen Williams, Chase (Abby) Phillips, Braden Phillips, Chance Phillips, Brantley McMillan, and Declan McMillan; her great-grandson, Weldon Phillips; her brother, Rick Cornejo; and her sister, Carrie (Bede) Mitchell.
Marsha will be remembered for her generous heart, her devotion to her family, her faith, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. Through raising her own family and opening her home to more than 50 foster children, she spent her life making others feel loved, cared for, and accepted. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Services for Marsha will be held on Tuesday September 15, 2026 at Mt. Paran Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, with Rick Cornejo, Mike Barfoot, and Bryan Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to services.
