Leigh Ann Duda, 62, a devoted mother and friend to all, passed away in Boone, NC, comforted by her loved ones on October 31, 2025. She was born in Sycamore, Illinois, and was the daughter to Robert and Mary Smith. Leigh Ann is survived by her son, Zach Duda, her loving stepfather Larry Havens, and extended family.
Leigh Ann was authentically herself, always showing up for those in need. Throughout her life, she built up her community by volunteering at local soup kitchens in Charlotte, preparing meals for those facing hardships, and sharing her love for music by singing with the St. Patrick’s and First Presbyterian Choirs.
Leigh Ann loved lavender, singing, Halloween, and horses. Most of all, Leigh Ann had a remarkable memory and fondness for detail. She was dedicated to those who confided in her, and remembered names and faces; even if it was just a single encounter.
Leigh Ann was a friend to many, and to many a friend.
A celebration of Leigh Ann’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Boone, NC, Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11:00.
