Larry Burton Glenn

Larry Burton Glenn, of Sugar Grove, North Carolina, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026, at The Foley Center at Chestnut Ridge in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Arlus Burton Glenn and Essie Potter Glenn, and his beloved son, Gary Burton Glenn.

In his younger years, Larry enjoyed a simple life that reflected his love of the outdoors and hands-on living. He spent time working on small engine repair and woodworking, where he took pride in creating and fixing things with his hands. Larry was also an avid guitar and dulcimer player and deeply loved his instruments. Music was an important part of his life, especially gospel and bluegrass, which brought him great joy and comfort throughout the years.

Larry was a strong believer in his Lord and Savior. He loved the Bible verse John 3:16, which held special meaning in his life and faith.

He is survived by his beloved brother, Loyd Ray Glenn of Sugar Grove, as well as his special nieces, Nechia Wilson and fiancé Jonathan Miller of Sugar Grove, and Amanda Wilson and husband Chris Wilson of Sugar Grove.

Larry also leaves behind his great-nieces, Emily Faith Wilson and Selena Marie Wilson; his great-nephew, Dakota McCrary and wife Kayla McCrary, all of Sugar Grove; and a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew.

Larry’s family would like to extend a special and heartfelt appreciation to the staff of The Foley Center at Chestnut Ridge for the kindness, care, and compassion shown to Larry during his time there. Their care will always be remembered and deeply appreciated by his family.

Larry will be laid to rest during a private graveside service with his family Saturday, August 22nd at 1:00 PM at the family cemetery.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
