Our “sonshine” was born April 19, 1999 in Boca Raton, Florida. A graduate of Blowing Rock School, Kevin was beloved by his classmates, teachers and other parents. Kevin excelled both in and out of the classroom. A 2017 graduate of Watauga High School, Kevin was a member of the National Honor Society, DECA, the Watauga High School’s JV and Varsity basketball teams and the Varsity golf team. Accepted to UNC Chapel Hill with a Blowing Rock Community Foundation scholarship. He earned his B.A. with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy. While at UNC, he enjoyed a summer abroad in Florence, Italy studying at the University of Lorenzo de’ Medici. He was also a member of Sigma Epsilon fraternity, acting as chapter Chaplain and representing them in intramural basketball.
After UNC, he moved to Florida to pursue law as a Governor’s Scholar at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He excelled at UF and would frequently comment that he had “found his people”. During law school, Kevin was a Forum Editor for the Florida Law Review and served as a research assistant for Professor Lynn LoPucki. He also found time to join the intramural basketball team. He was immensely proud to be a 3rd generation lawyer. Upon graduation, he was recruited by Bursor & Fisher, P.A in Miami, Florida. But his heart was always in the mountains. He relished trips home to see his family from wherever he was based “just because”. His spirit will be forever there.
He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Gae Kapral of Boone, his sister and best friend Courtney Kapral of Boone, grandparents, Stephen Sr. and Diana Kapral of Venice, Fl, Richard McNeill of Miami, FL, Aunts and Uncles, Nicholas & Stephanie (Sloane) Kapral of Painted Post, NY and Ronald and Sarah (Kapral) Weber of Bluffton, SC, his many cousins, and his girlfriend, Hayley McAleese.
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 10, 2026 at St. Mary of the Hills Church in Blowing Rock. The family will receive guests after the church service. All other services are private.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Blue Ridge Conservancy in Blowing Rock.
