James William Stanton

James William Stanton, age 91, of Linville NC, passed peacefully on Saturday November 4 th , 2023.
Jim was born in Portland, Maine on April 9 th , 1932, the son of Charles William Stanton and Virginia
Coolbroth Hayes Stanton. He was married to Joan Alberta Rosenblad Stanton, his loving wife of seventy
years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joan, Linville, North Carolina; three sons, Cris (Jean) Stanton of Pickins, South
Carolina, Carl (Sue) Stanton of Banner Elk, North Carolina, and Craig (Mary Jeanne) Stanton of Bristow,
Virginia; Adrienne Stanton of Bealeton, Virginia; 8 grandchildren Seth (Julie) Stanton, Sarah (Darren)
Young, Jessica (Todd) Coombs, Michael (Carolyn) Stanton, Katherine Stanton, Andrew (Ashley) Stanton,
and Jonathan (Brittany) Stanton; and 11 great grandchildren Rosemary, Everett, Charlise, Amelia,
Matthias, Abigail, Genevieve, Roland, Logan, Ava, and Blake.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judith Hayes Stanton; and grandson, Daniel Stanton.
Friends are welcome to attend a memorial service and reception celebrating James’ life. The service will
be held November 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Mountainside Lutheran Church Linville, NC.
