Helen Mae (Presnell) Parlier

Helen Mae Presnell Parlier, age 90, passed away on May 31, 2025.

Helen Parlier was born on October 10, 1934, to loving parents Leonard and Minnie Oliver Presnell. She was raised in the beautiful mountains of Watauga County, North Carolina, where she developed a strong sense of compassion and a deep love for others. That same compassion led her to a fulfilling career as a caregiver in a nursing home, where she touched many lives with her kindness and gentle spirit.

Helen had a heart for adventure and a special bond with animals, always finding joy in both the quiet companionship of pets and the excitement of travel. But above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Whether it was a simple gathering or a special occasion, she cherished every moment surrounded by those she loved most.

Helen will be remembered for her warm heart, her unwavering care for others, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Minnie; husband Boyd Parlier Jr.; stillborn daughter; two sons Joseph McMillan, Jeffrey Parlier; two grandsons Devin Parlier, Joseph Greer; as well as brothers and sisters.

Helen is survived by daughter Denise Greene of Creston, NC; three grandsons Shawn Issacs (Amy) of Fleetwood, NC; Josh McMillan (Lindsey) of Hickory, NC; Dustin Parlier of Wilmington, NC; three granddaughters Shannon (Trent) Snyder of Mountain City, TN; Michelle Greer (David) of Creston, NC; Danielle Tyson of Hickory, NC; eight great granddaughters Leigh Issacs of Fleetwood, NC; Angeleigh “Carissa” Greer of Creston, NC; Chloe Billard (Dalton) of Mountain City, NC; Kenvie Ballard of Mountain City, TN; Hope Ballard of Mountain City, NC; Amelia McMillan of Hickory, NC; Taylin Snyder of Mountain City, TN; three great grandsons J.J. McMillan of Hickory, NC; Gavin Miller of Creston, NC; Easton Snyder of Mountain City, TN.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday Jun 4, 2025 at 2PM at Presnell Cemetery.
