Mrs. Glenda Beach Ragan, age 80, of Howard’s Creek Road, Boone, the Rich Mountain community, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2023 at her home. Born September 24, 1943 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Glenn Beach and Alma Miller Church. Glenda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. She played an active role in the education of her children by parent participation in school projects and in her community by volunteering for organizations, including the American Red Cross and the Girl Scout programs. Glenda also had an artistic flair and was talented in crocheting doilies, making placemats as well as other arts and crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Parsons and husband, Ashley, of Boone and son, Adam Ragan and wife, Jennifer, of Dallas, NC; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hyatt and husband, Justin, of Fayetteville, Alex Parsons and wife, Ana, of Charlotte, Julia Parsons and fiancée, Garrett Jones, of Leland, and Maddy, Gracie and Lily Ragan, all of Dallas; two great-granddaughters, Ellie Hyatt of Fayetteville and Scarlett Hyatt of Fayetteville; her sister, Joyce McNeil of Boone; sister-in-law, Joyce Beach of Boone; and brothers-in-law, Bill Ragan and wife, Rita, and Tom Graybeal, all of Boone. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bob Ragan; sisters, Georgia Mae Cannon and Kay Frances Beach; and brothers, Kent and Mackey Beach.
Graveside services for Glenda Ragan will be conducted Saturday morning, December 16, 2023 at 11 o’clock at the Culler Cemetery.
