Edith Irene Byland

Edith Irene Byland, age 91, of Todd, North Carolina, passed away, Sunday, November 19, 2023 with her loving family by her side.  She was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to her flowers.  She was also the pianist at Pilot Mountain Baptist Church for half a century.  She was a loving mother to five children and a devout Christian.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Riley Brewer and Rebecca Irene Brewer; her loving husband of 40 years, John “Bud” Byland; her oldest son, William Randall Byland; brothers Shelton Brewer, Russell Brewer, and Floyd Brewer; and one grandchild, Brandy Kim Byland.

Edith is survived by her children, Kenny Byland and wife, Elizabeth of Todd, NC; Angela Greer of Conover, NC; Timothy Byland and wife, Amanda of Lansing, NC; and Thomas Byland of Todd, NC.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

In lieu of food and flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to Medi Home Health and Hospice, 400 Shadowline Dr UNIT 101, Boone, NC 28607.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Pilot Mountain Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at the church at 2:30 PM.  Burial will follow at the Pilot Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
