Bobby Joe Quinn

Bobby Joe “Bob” Quinn, 77, of Boone, North Carolina, passed away
on August 30, 2026 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Born on October 12, 1948, Bob grew up in Fredericksburg, Texas, a
place he always considered home in his heart. He worked many
jobs over the years, but the calling that defined him was preaching
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Preaching kept him in the Word. He
gave long hours to Scripture and filled his shelves with theology
and history; he went further still, studying the Greek texts so he
could read the New Testament in the language it was written.
Those same shelves held fiction and fantasy by writers such as
J.R.R. Tolkien, and that love of imagined worlds reached back to
the superhero comics of his boyhood. He delighted in their
artwork and their stories from the 1950s on, and he made art of his
own — sketching, and painting in watercolor.

Bob shared 54 years of marriage with Gail Jeannine “Dickey”
Quinn. In his last years he still told her he had married the most
beautiful woman in the world.

Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and
uncle. He is survived by his wife, Gail; his daughter Janna Jeane
Perez and husband Mike and his granddaughter Mikayla who knew
him as Daddy Pops, his son Thomas Warren Quinn and wife Dana.
He had many nephews and nieces that were special to him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Boone Church of Christ. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Services will be officiated by Randy Covalt.
