Betty Blevins Raymond, age 89, of Lewisville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning Oct. 20,2023, while in Boone NC. She was born on December 3, 1933 in Johnson City, Tennessee to William Frank and Naomi Blevins.
Betty married her beloved husband, Ralph W. Raymond, Sr., "Jim", on October 10, 1953. She was a devoted wife and loving mom to her three children. Betty enjoyed homemaking, flower gardening, and was an amazing seamstress. Back in 1960, Betty and her husband Jim were excited to buy land off of Roby Greene Road in Boone, NC, where they slowly built their summer cabin. They, along with family and friends, vacationed there every summer for 48 years. Upon Jim's retirement, they became part time residents in Boone for 6 months of the year. Their love for Boone and surrounding areas spread to many family members and friends who also fell in love with the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Their son Ralph and family reside in Lewisville, NC, while their daughter Leslie and granddaughter Emily with their families are local residents of Boone and could not be happier. Betty was known over the years as "Meme". She will be dearly missed by all of her family and all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Ralph W. Raymond, Sr. She is survived by her son Ralph W. Raymond Jr. (Donna), of Lewisville, NC, son Steven D. Raymond (Debby), of Clanton, AL, and daughter Leslie "Missy" R. Berglund (Scott) of Boone, NC; Five grandchildren, Kelly Smith (Casey) of Tallahassee, FL, Emily Warrenburg (Ryan), of Boone NC, Steven Raymond Jr. (Kimberly) of Alaska, Kevin Raymond (Laurel) of St. Simons Island, GA, and Leslie Raymond of Silver Spring, MD.
Betty is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren; Hunter, Emma and Liam Raymond; Scarlett and Isaac Smith; Jack, Lucy, Emma, Molly, and Henry Raymond; and Jude, Quinn, and Dean Warrenburg.
She is also survived by her 2 loving sisters Beverly Bingham (Richard) of Clermont, FL, and Barbara Chivers of Sugar Mountain, NC.
The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation and Medi Home Health Hospice for their many acts of kindness, compassion, and care of Betty and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made in a donation to Medi Home Hospice, 400 Shadowline Drive, Suite 101, Boone, NC, 28607. The family will hold a Celebration of Life in honor of Betty at a later date.
