Barbara McElrath

Barbara McElrath was born May 8, 1932 in Madison County, North Carolina to Thomas Roscoe and Ida Mae Howell Boone.

She was known as the "Queen of Lake James" for most of her adult life. She enjoyed cooking for her family, holding court on her front porch with her friends and neighbors. She loved animals and always had one on her lap. She was one of the best upholsterers in Watauga County.  

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 75 years, James McElrath, son, Thomas McElrath, son in law, William Gantt, grandson, Dylan McElrath.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Pamela Gantt of Boone, grandson Bryan Gantt of Boone, granddaughter Lindsey Gantt of Boone, granddaughter Alicia Beazer Lewis of Chattanooga, TN and great grandson Gabriel Beazer of Chattanooga, TN.

The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
