Mr. Martin Leroy Cushey, age 72, of Friendship Church Road, Boone, died Friday afternoon October 2, 2009 at home after a long battle with lung Cancer. . Born in Watsonville, California June 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Martin and Ardith Parks Cushey. Mr. Cushey was a member of the Boone Moose Lodge and the Boone VFW. He was a former forklift operator and worked for Harry Yates Nursery and Landscaping.
Surviving are his wife; Betty Cushey, one daughter; Sheri Crunk and husband Michael of Alexis, two grandchildren; Robin Reed and husband Daniel of Alexis, and Terel Crunk and wife Valarie of High Shoals, and one great grandson; Trenton Crunk and an expectant grandson, Skylar Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Donna Pacheo.
Memorial services for Mr. Martin Leroy Cushey will be conducted Saturday afternoon October 17, 2009 at 1 o'clock at the Boone Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the High Country Health Care System, 400 Shadowline Drive, Suite 100-B, Boone, NC 28607.
